Phil Clark

Practice Leader

Building BAS Excellence

Phil’s passion for sensors and controls was sparked during his time in the U.S. Navy, where he served as a Machinist Mate—an experience that laid the foundation for his entire career. He transitioned to the pharmaceutical industry, where he had the opportunity to further develop—and ultimately master—this specialized skill set.

He began his pharmaceutical career working with stability chambers, specialized environmental units used to replicate environmental conditions for drug testing and regulatory compliance. From there, he transitioned into metrology, supporting the HVAC department, and eventually specialized in Building Automation Systems (BAS). Over the years, he deepened his expertise in BAS as a commissioning agent and Project Manager, leading multiple capital BAS projects. His career evolved into a leadership role where he recruited and managed teams of Facility Engineers across diverse customer sites. With nearly 30 years of experience supporting BAS initiatives, he brings a problem-solving mindset and a strong commitment to customer satisfaction.

Phil collaborated with R.E. Mason on several large-scale capital projects and consistently admired the team’s professionalism and customer-focused approach. Inspired by their culture, he sought to bring that same level of excellence to his own work and customer relationships. His transition to Apperture Solutions felt like a natural next step in his career.

In his current role as Practice Lead, he’s able to combine his instinct for understanding customer needs with an ability to implement solutions that drive innovation—building automation excellence across a wide range of disciplines and industries.
